AI-made vs filmed video: when each is right

By Cecelia · 02 Nov 2026 · Updated 06 Nov 2026

The short answer

AI-made video suits explainers, product walk-throughs and social clips, where speed, cost and easy updates matter. Film real people when trust depends on seeing them: customer stories, your team and your premises. Many businesses use both.

Where AI-made video works well

  • Product and software walk-throughs. Recorded from your real website or software, with a voice-over and captions.
  • Explainers. How your service works, what happens after someone books, how to use what they bought.
  • Social clips. Short versions of the same message, cut for each platform.
  • Videos that change. When prices, screens or steps change, an AI-made video can be updated without a reshoot.

Where filming is better

  • Customer stories. People trust a real customer speaking far more than any presenter.
  • Your team and your premises. If people are buying from you, let them see you.
  • Anything physical. Food, a venue, craftsmanship, a product in someone's hands.

AI presenters

An AI presenter can front an explainer without anyone going on camera. We only use stock AI presenters styled to your brand, never a real person's likeness, and we label them as AI. A presenter suits how-to and explainer content; it's the wrong choice for a testimonial or anything where viewers would assume they're watching a real person.

Labelling AI video

Be open about it. Since 2 August 2026, the EU AI Act has required anyone publishing AI-generated video that could pass for real people, places or events to say so, and the main social platforms have their own labelling rules. We go further: every video we make says plainly where AI was used. It costs nothing and keeps trust intact. This isn't legal advice; check what applies to your business and where you publish.

Using both

A common mix is a filmed piece about who you are, and AI-made videos for everything that explains, demonstrates or changes often.
